Wild Speculation Continues About Colorado Shooter

In spite of the wild speculation coming out of pro-abortion groups in the U.S., police are not saying what motivated a 57 year-old loner to gun down three people inside a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado.

As of 2 p.m. yesterday, Colorado Springs police announced that they will not disclose why Robert Lewis Dear opened fire inside an abortion clinic, killing a police officer and two other citizens and injuring nine others on Friday afternoon until they complete their investigation.

Dear, who surrendered after a tense, hours-long standoff, is a North Carolina native who was known to his neighbors as a loner.

James Russell, who lived near Dear in Black Mountain, N.C., told the NY Daily News that Dear had trouble focusing on anything for too long.

“If you talked to him, nothing with him was very cognitive — topics all over place,” said Russell.

He never heard him mention anything about religion or abortion.

However, various media outlets are reporting that Dear said “no more baby parts” during the standoff which fueled speculation that he had an animus against Planned Parenthood. The problem with this rush to judgement is that Dear also made comments about President Obama, which is why the police are still investigating a possible motive.

According to a report by U.S. News and World Report, the warrants relating to the case against Dear are remaining sealed and they are not providing any information on the weapon used, the timelines of the events, or the man’s possible motive.

But that’s not stopping Planned Parenthood from drawing its own (predictable) conclusions. Not only are they calling Dear a pro-abortion extremist, they’re also using the episode to raise funds from those women who still believe the war on women is about denying them health care rather than improving it.

In a fund-raising email sent out on Saturday, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards writes: “We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”

Notice how she leaves the “extremists” unnamed. Instead of pointing to convicted killers such as Eric Robert Rudolph or Scott Roeder, both of whom murdered abortionists, she leaves it undefined, thereby implying that all pro-lifers are extremists who hate women. This is in spite of the fact that almost half the country considers themselves to be pro-life!

I find it even more interesting how abortion supporters from those inside the Obama Administration to the mainstream media are constantly telling us not to blame all of Islam for the few killers involved in terrorism – but it’s okay to make the same kind of sweeping claim when it comes to people who oppose abortion?

Not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton, Democratic candidate for president and a long-time strident supporter of abortion, also jumped on the bandwagon while speaking at a political fund-raiser this weekend in New Hampshire:

“The shooting on Friday was at, as you know, a Planned Parenthood clinic, a place where lots of women get healthcare they need – breast exams, STD testing, contraception, and, yes, safe and legal abortions. We should be supporting Planned Parenthood, not attacking it,” Clinton said.

And of course, all of the networks are piling on, such as Eric Bradner who touted in a Sunday article on CNN.com that the “Republican presidential contenders condemned” the man who murdered three people at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado, but “largely stood by their fierce criticism of the organization.”

As if there is absolutely no reason why anyone would criticize an organization that is currently being investigated by Congress – and in numerous states – for possible criminal activity ranging from Medicaid fraud to the sale of fetal baby parts!

Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee had the most cogent response to the tragedy: “There’s no excuse for killing other people, whether it’s inside … Planned Parenthood clinics, where many millions of babies die, or whether it’s people attacking Planned Parenthood,” Huckabee said.

Dear is expected to appear in court today.
