The Troubled Background of ABC’s “Scandal” Creator

The woman who is responsible for the reprehensible episode of ABC’s Scandal that featured an abortion being performed while Silent Night is playing in the background is a single parent who sits on the board of Planned Parenthood and openly admits she does not want a husband “around the house.”

The Catholic League is reporting on the troubled background of Shonda Rhimes, creator of ABC’s Scandal, who appears to have an axe to grind with men, marriage, and the Church.

Bill Donohue of the Catholic League did some digging on the woman’s past and found that “libertinism and narcissism are her most defining qualities. Throw in a heady dose of juvenile rebelliousness, and the composite picture that emerges is as revealing as it is sickening,” he summarizes.

There’s a good reason why Rhimes was shilling for Planned Parenthood throughout the episode – she sits on the board of Planned Parenthood’s Los Angeles affiliate. It’s an association Donohue finds curious because the abortion giant was founded by Margaret Sanger, a eugenicist who wanted to cut back the Negro population because she believed they were unfit for society.

But why play Silent Night in the background during the abortion?

“Rhimes is angry,” Donohue explains. “It’s payback time. She went to a Catholic high school where she was disciplined for wearing ‘too-short skirts.’ She never got over it. Hence, her juvenile rebelliousness.”

Her personal life is a mess. She has three daughters and no husband.

“I have never wanted to get married,” Rhimes has stated publicly. “I love having boyfriends. I love dating. I do not want a husband in my house.”

But what about her children? Might they want a father in the house?

Donohue draws the obvious conclusion: “They don’t count. What counts is what Shonda wants, namely, sex without responsibilities. This explains her scripts as well as her life.”

When we put it all together, “the composite picture isn’t pretty,” he writes. “It’s a mess.”

And it explains how she could conceive of such a dark story line and actually think it could be entertaining to anyone except that tiny minority of people who share her calloused view of life and love.

Shonda Rhimes is obviously a deeply injured woman who is need of the healing touch of Jesus. Let us pray that she will one day find Him and discover what real love is all about.
