To make the best of what is certainly a bride’s worst nightmare, 27 year-old Quinn Duane decided to donate the wedding feast she planned to enjoy with her groom whose cold feet caused him to call off the wedding a week before the big day.

The Daily Mail is reporting on the story oQuinn Duane and her fiancé, Landon Borup, 27, who were all set to tie the knot in a lavish $35,000 ceremony at Sacramento’s luxurious Citizen Hotel. Just days before the ceremony, Borup, who popped the question last April,  decided not to go through with it.

“When I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back,” said Quinn’s mother, Kari Duane. “I feel a lot of heartache and heartbreak for her, but I will take away something good from this.”

The gourmet meal, prepared by a 4-star restaurant and intended for 120 quests, included salmon and steak as well as appetizers, salad and gnocchi.

But instead of watching wedding guests consume the feast on what should have been the happiest day of her daughter’s life, Kari watched families with babies, young children, single people and grandparents filtering into the hall to enjoy the food.

“When you’re going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it was really a blessing,’ said Rashad Abdullah, who came to the dinner with his wife Erika and five children, to KCRA.

Erika was impressed and grateful for the Duane family’s generosity.

“To lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else is really giving, really kind,’ Erika said.

Another non-refundable item left up for grabs is a honeymoon trip to Belize. Kari and Quinn decided to hop on a plane and make the most of what should have been a very different journey.
