Baby Parts Scandal Expected to Get Much Worse

planned parenthoodIn an attempt to get ahead of the blistering scandal involving the sale of fetal body parts by Planned Parenthood, lawyers for the organization have submitted a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee saying it thinks undercover video has been taken of actual fetal body part dissections.

Pro-life activist Jill Stanek has posted an excerpt from the letter on her blog in which Planned Parenthood officials not only refuse to allow their chief medical director, Dr. Deborah Nucatola to attend a House hearing, but also speculate on the content of future videos that the undercover pro-life group, Center for Medical Progress (CMP), promises to unveil soon.

“Biomax [the fictitious biotech company CMP reps used to infiltrate the organization] set up exhibits at our National Medical Conference and our National Conference over the last couple of years. We believe that on at least one occasion a representative from Biomax was shown a highly sensitive area in a clinic where tissue is processed after abortion procedures. While this work is standard and essential during any abortion procedure, any filming in such an area would be an extremely serious invasion of our patients’ privacy and dignity,” said the letter, written by a lawyer representing Planned Parenthood named Roger Evans.

“We also believe that in at least one interaction at a Planned Parenthood facility, the Biomax representative asked questions about the racial characteristics of tissue donated to researchers studying sickle cell anemia, apparently seeking to create a misleading impression.

“We believe a focal point of Biomax’s efforts was to induce our affiliates to enter into sham procurement contracts. In one instance, the amounts offered by Biomax were $100 per specimen. In another instance, Biomax offered to pay much more, sending the affiliate a “procurement agreement” that offered a payment of $1,600 for a liver and thymus – an astronomical amount compared to the minimal cost-recovery fees that affiliates with tissue donation programs currently recoup. These efforts most often targeted Planned Parenthood affiliates not currently engaged in tissue donation. All of these efforts were rebuffed. We suspect, however, that this will not deter the extremists behind this campaign from editing and distorting their surreptitious videos.”

The letter goes on to say that there are probably “multiple taped interactions initiated by Biomax discussing whether and how a physician could adjust an abortion if the patient has requested to donate tissue for medical research, and we believe that these extremists will manipulate those videos to make more false claims. In fact, given the scope and length of the deceptive practices perpetrated by Mr. Daleidan, and the lengths he apparently went to in order to advance his political agenda, there may well be thousands of hours of videotape that he will deceptively edit into short video clips to release for many months.”

Planned Parenthood and its surrogates are now accusing the CMP and it’s founder, former LiveAction staffer David Daleiden, of various illegalities from falsely applying for tax-exempt status as a biomedical charity instead of a pro-life group and for illegally taping interviews.

However, the CMP issued a statement saying that it “follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work, and we look forward to showing the public more clear evidence that Planned Parenthood routinely profits from the sale of baby parts and changes the abortion procedures it uses on pregnant women in order to do so.”

The statement goes on to allege that Roger Evans, head of the Litigation and Law Department “gave a presentation to Planned Parenthood affiliates at their March 2015 National Meeting encouraging them to supply fetal tissue in exchange for remuneration. He has been helping Planned Parenthood evade the law on fetal tissue trafficking for over 15 years, and if Planned Parenthood is so confident they follow the law on baby parts sales, they should willingly provide the conference recording of his presentation to the three Congressional committees now investigating.”

The CMP does not state whether or not it has a recording of Evans’ presentation.

Stanek makes this comment at the end of her report: “As I said, I can scarcely imagine what CMP has – video of speakers, workshops, and conversations at at least four abortion conferences. Holy Cow.”

The plot is indeed thickening.
