Many believe that Mary’s appearance at Fatima can be of great importance in the Christian outreach to the Muslim people. Archbishop Sheen, for example, saw in our Lady’s choice of Fatima a great significance for her message. She did not come down from heaven to the only place in all of Portugal with a Muslim name simply to convert Russia, he said. Unless we have the conversion of hundreds of millions of Muslims, there will never be world peace.
