Send a Message to Girl Scout Leaders: Join CookieCott 2014!

girl scout cookiesThe Girl Scouts are causing controversy once again after the national office endorsed pro-abortion Wendy Davis and Kathleen Sebelius as “women of the year”, an announcement that has sparked a nationwide “CookieCott” meant to keep money out of the hands of abortion providers.

According to Breitbart, the “CookieCott” is the work of John Pisciotta of a pro-life organization in Waco, Texas, along with a dozen national pro-life organizations who announced the launch of the boycott today.

“The Girl Scouts were once a truly amazing organization, but it has been taken over by ideologues of the left, and regular folks just will not stand for it. Anyone who cares about this ought to go to www.cookiecott.com and find out why,” Pisciotta said.

The CookieCott is providing a free downloadable flyer to everyone wishing to participate in the boycott that lists all of the reasons why concerned citizens should consider forgoing those tasty cookies this year.

For instance:

•    GSUSA, with over 2 million girl members, maintains relationships with many pro-abortion advocacy groups.

•    Girl Scouts’ curriculum for girls, sold and promoted by every local Girl Scout council, recommends pro-abortion role models/organizations such as Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Geraldine Ferraro, Hillary Clinton, Amnesty International, Population Council, ACLU, National Organization For Women (NOW) and others.

•    GSUSA and local Girl Scout councils connect girls to resources promoting abortion rights and inappropriate sexual content via official Girl Scout social media accounts.

•    Across the country, local Girl Scout councils honor and promote abortion rights advocates and pro-abortion politicians; suggest girls work with organizations that fight for abortion on demand; and invite girls to attend events related to abortion rights advocacy and other controversial issues.

The flyer also follows the money trail, showing that local troops keep just 10 to 20 percent of the money collected through cookie sales while the local council gets 65 to 75 percent of the money.

The national organization collects a royalty payment on every box of cookies produced, which means that because 200 million boxes of cookies are sold annually, anywhere from five to seven percent of the national office’s budget – up to $5 million dollars – comes from cookie sales .

Breitbart is also reporting that those parents who wondering what their local councils are up to can visit this site, run by Ann Saladin, which lists all of the councils around the country that have ties to abortion.

Apparently, her site is causing problems at the national office because she was contacted just this week by a Girl Scout attorney threatening legal action if she doesn’t remove the Girl Scout logo from her website.
