A small Catholic high school class in Beloit, Kansas came up with the idea of staging a pro-life rally on Friday to educate teens and motivate them to take a stand against abortion – but the idea caught on and is now scheduled to take place in several states!
Operation Rescue is reporting on the events that will take place on Friday, December 6, the feast of St. Nicholas, in Kansas, South Carolina, Colorado and Nebraska as the result of the dream of a group of students from a small Catholic high school in Kansas.
Called the “Catholic School for Life Rally”, students from St. John’s Catholic High School in Beloit will travel more than two hours to the closest abortion clinic to stand up for life. The students will be joined by members of other high schools, such as Sacred Heart Catholic School in Salina and Kapaun High School in Wichita.
The idea caught fire and quickly spread to other schools around the nation. St. John’s faculty organizer, Andrew Neiwald, has confirmed that Catholic high schools in Colorado, Nebraska and South Carolina are also staging pro-life rallies at abortion clinics on Friday. The rallies will include prayer, the reading of Bible verses, and singing Christmas Carols.
The Wichita event will be visited by Kansas pro-life Congressman Tim Huelskamp, who has confirmed that he will attend and speak at the rally.
New York’s Cardinal Timothy Dolan has given his blessing to the events and Neiwald claims prayers are being offered for the success of the rallies from as far away as Brazil.
Students are hoping this event will spread throughout the country and become an annual tradition that draws teens from all faiths.
“We encourage everyone to turn out for a rally and prayer at their local abortion clinics to show support for what these amazing high school students are doing,” said Troy Newman President of Operation Rescue. “These students will get up early, drive far, and brave a cold Kansas winter morning to offer prayer for women seeking abortions. They are an example of sacrifice we can all applaud and emulate.”
Anyone who participates in a rally on December 6 is asked to send photos of their event to St. John’s students at firstname.lastname@example.org.
