Two Men Arrested After Intimidating Priest for Years

Two men have finally been arrested after engaging in a four-year campaign to intimidate a Chicago-area priest by robbing him and threatening to tell the press that he “touched” them if anyone found out.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the 73 year-old priest, whose name has been withheld, had just finished saying Mass last Monday in his church in the South Side of Chicago when 22 year-old Deandrea Little and 20 year-old Markquis Little came into the sacristy and threatened him.

“I need some money,” they said, according to police reports. “Give me some money.”

Deandrea then began poking the priest on the forehead while threatening to hit him. “We’ll say you touched us, read the paper, they’ll believe us,” he said according to the police.

Police were able to apprehend the two after the priest spotted them sitting in the back of church a few days later.

This was not the first time the priest was set upon by the men. Police say the two had been carrying out an intimidation campaign against the church for four years, damaging windows and jumping on the priest’s car.

The priest said he had been giving them $10 to $20 each time they robbed him, saying they visited the building hundreds of times since 2009. It is estimated that they stole at least $10,000 over the years.

Both men have been charged with intimidation, stalking and attempted robbery.
