UN to Monitor U.S. Elections

A total of 57 international experts and observers from the United Nations will be dispersed to key battleground states in the U.S. on election day to monitor possible voter suppression or intimidation of minorities at polling places.

The Daily Caller is reporting that the UN affiliated Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Europe will deploy its representatives to states where voter ID and early voting laws became contentious issues such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas and Florida. They say the observation is being set up to insure that the conservative groups who pushed these laws don’t engage in any kind of suppression or intimidation on election day.

“Observers will assess these elections for compliance with international obligations and standards for democratic elections, including the commitments agreed to by all the OSCE participating States, and with national legislation,” the OSCE said in a statement. “The mission will analyze the legislative framework and its implementation and will follow campaign activities, the work of the election administration and relevant government bodies, including voter registration, and the resolution of election disputes.”

A total of 44 monitors from countries such as Germany, France,  Serbia,  Belarus, Ukraine and Kazakhstan will “monitor an array of activities, including potential disputes at polling places.”

Although the OSCE has assessed elections since 2002 and insists that they were invited to do so again by U.S. authorities, they also admit to receiving significant pressure from liberal organizations such as the ACLU and the NAACP who are concerned about voter ID laws and early voting restrictions, which they believe may negatively affect minorities, low-income Americans, the elderly and women.

Catherine Engelbrecht, founder and president of True the Vote, a conservative-leaning group seeking to crack down on election fraud, sees it differently.

“These activist groups sought assistance not from American sources, but from the United Nations,” she said in a statement to The Hill. “The United Nations has no jurisdiction over American elections.”

Even though her own organization is now under scrutiny by the UN, she says True the Vote “may surpass a million volunteers” at polls this November.

“ . . . (W)e’re very excited about the level of enthusiasm, the number of volunteers, and the fact that we had a positive impact in bringing awareness to this important issue, of election integrity,” she said.

Speaking to Fox News’ Megyn Kelly yesterday, Engelbrecht pointed out that all of the UN monitors come from countries that have voter ID laws.

One Response to “UN to Monitor U.S. Elections

  1. I do not think it is right for the UN to get involved with our Election and Race. Who decided for them to monitor the election? Some one had to do this or put them up to it. I don’t buy it at all. This is a added notion to get our minds off of something else…maybe the election itself. Here in Florida, people are getting calls not to vote. I guess they want the Obama adminstration back in. Who’s idea was this anyway? So sad how this once great nation is becoming? We will loose our freedom. Its becoming a socialistic society. And the American people are falling into its trap. They have taken God out of our country and do you think they can run it well with out him? I don’t think so. Its a falling nation. How could God bless us with the evil that is taking place. I bet He is very angry seeing the evil climbing in this nation.
I hope people will vote correctly and make a God – decision choice for a good president to come in to fix up this country. We had enough of Obama for the last 4 years, nothing was satisfying or completed. He lied to us and if he gets in then we have to blame ourselves. We will have another 4 worse years with him. Would you want a country to suffer ? Vote NO Obama like I saw the sign in Kissimme Florida.
Pray before you take that vote……God Bless you all!
