Love God in perfect liberty

January 14
"We have to uphold the right of all men to live, to own what is necessary to lead a dignified existence, to work and to rest, to choose a particular state in life, to form a home, to bring children into the world within marriage and to be allowed to educate them, to pass peacefully through times of sickness and old age, to have access to culture, to join with other citizens to achieve legitimate ends, and, above all, to enjoy the right to know and love God in perfect liberty."
 -St. Josemaria Escriva
Today's Reflection:
How are you actively participating in activities that speak for the poor, the weak, the disenfranchised, and the forgotten? How can you do more uphold the dignity of all human life?

You're not humbled

August 14
"You're not humbled when you humble yourself, but when you are humbled by others and you bear it for Christ."
-St. Josemaria Escriva
Today's Reflection:
Is God currently offering me an opportunity to grow in humility through others? What does St. Josemaria Escriva recommend so that I might mine the grace being offered me?

Despised by others

August 13
"The day you see yourself as you are, you will think it natural
to be despised by others."
-St. Josemaria Escriva
Today's Reflection:
To what extent do I see myself as I am - not embellishing my weaknesses nor excusing them either. How would both of these extremes be a false humility?

Fire upon the earth

June 28
"'I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled.' (Luke 12:29) We have approached the fire of the love of God. Let us allow that fire to burn in our lives. Let us feed the desire to spread that divine fire throughout the world, making it known to all the people around us. They too can experience the peace of Christ and find happiness there. A Christian who lives united to Christ's heart can have no goals but these: peace in society, peace in the Church, peace in his soul, the peace of God which will reach its climax when his kingdom comes."
- St. Josemaria Escriva
Today's Reflection
Does your soul burn for souls? Is it filled with the divine fire of God's love? Pray today for a portion of the burning passion of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

God does not lose battles

April 16
"Faith: avoid defeatism and sterile lamenting about the religious situation of your countries, and get on with the job with effort and move ... many people. Hope: God does not lose battles."
-St. Josemaria Escriva, paraphrase reported in In Conversation with God, Volume 2, by Francis Fernandez
Today's Reflection
According to St. Josemaria, how can I exhibit faith and hope about the religious situation of my country?

The right of all men

Today's Reflection:
How are you actively participating in activities that speak for the poor, the weak, the disenfranchised, and the forgotten? During this week when we uphold the dignity of all human life, especially the unborn,
how can you do more?

Strong and Simple Unity

September 10

We Christians cannot resign ourselves to leading a double life – our life must be strong and simple unity into which all our actions converge.

                                                                        -St. Josemaria Escriva
