Group Calls For Investigation of Planned Parenthood

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer The nation’s largest grass roots Catholic pro-life organization, the American Life League, is calling on the Attorney General for the state of Indiana to investigate Planned Parenthood’s counseling practices after an undercover sting caught a clinic worker counseling a 13 year-old on how to avoid state statutory rape laws. The incident was captured on film by Live Action Films, a pro-life student group from the University of California. In the film, a counselor working at Planned Parenthood’s Bloomington, Indiana clinic is seen coaching a 13-year-old girl on how to avoid state law and protect her 31-year-old boyfriend. On tape, the counselor acknowledges her responsibility to report the abuse, but assures the girl she will not. "Okay, I didn't hear the age [of the 31-year-old],” she tells the girl. “I don't want to know the age." The nurse then instructs the girl on how to obtain a secret abortion by crossing state lines in order to avoid Indiana's parental consent law and coaches her on how to cover for the 31-year-old man by saying he is only 14. Planned Parenthood of Indiana has since suspended the counselor without pay, but the move has done little to appease the public, especially because Planned Parenthood has a long history of similar instances across the nation.  In fact, this is the second such video to emerge in the past week. Another undercover tape records a college student posing as a 15 year old who goes to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Charlotte, North Carolina asking for the morning after pill after having unprotected sex with her mother’s 30 year-old live-in boyfriend. The counselor never reported the incident, which is required by state law.  As a result, the American Life League (ALL) is calling on Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter to investigate Planned Parenthood's counseling practice in all of its 35 affiliates around the state. "Planned Parenthood is a tax-dollar bloated blight on the Hoosier state," ALL said in a message to its supporters. "But with your help the disturbing news coming from Indiana this week will signal renewed calls to Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter to investigate the Indiana affiliate of the nation's largest abortion chain." American Life League's vice president, Jim Sedlak, described Planned Parenthood's actions as typical of the organization's disdain for the welfare of women and children. "The depth of this organization's vitriol against women is truly shining forth in all its ugliness in Indiana," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "Planned Parenthood's well-documented pattern of protecting rapists must end!" Planned Parenthood of Indiana is an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation's largest abortion provider. American Life League was co-founded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly/Women of Grace. http://www.womenofgrace.com
