Two Baby Parts Buyers Shut Down

Two biotech companies who sold body parts for profit that were acquired from babies aborted at Planned Parenthood have admitted guilt in a $7.8 million settlement and have been ordered to shut down.

According to a December 8 press release issued by the Orange County California District Attorney (OCDA Tony Rackauckas, DV Biologics, LLC, and its sister company, DaVinci Biosciences, LLC admitted guilt for their role in the unlawful sale of fetal tissue and stem cells for profit. The OCDA obtained a multi-million dollar settlement which is to be donated, along with the companies’ biological materials to a non-profit academic and scientific teaching institution affiliated with a major U.S. medical schools. They were also required to pay $195,000 in civil penalties.

“This settlement seized all profits from DV Biologics and DaVinci Biosciences, which they acquired by viewing body parts as a commodity and illegally selling fetal tissues for valuable consideration. These companies will never be able to operate again in Orange County or the State of California,” stated District Attorney Rackauckas.

The coldness with which these companies viewed these body parts is seen in an email message that was seized during the investigation in which they discussed the pricing of prenatal renal fibroblasts. They were currently selling the fibroblasts at $350/vial and suggested raising the price to $375/vial. The email stated, “1000% gross does not seem unreasonable based on infrastructure and lack of competition.” It further stated, “If the market can handle a higher price t hen we will go with [that] since we will be giving discounts to the distributors.” After this discussion, the 2015 list price for the fibroblasts was set at $450/vial.

Rackauckas clearly stated that the charges stemmed from the undercover videos taken by the pro-life Center for Medical Progress (CMP) in 2016.

DaVinci Biolosciences and DV Biologics

“The DaVinci companies’ admission of guilt for selling baby parts from Planned Parenthood is a ringing vindication of CMP’s citizen journalism methods and accuracy,” says CMP Project Lead David Daleiden. “In light of the news that Planned Parenthood is now under federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for the sale of fetal body parts, the next step is for Planned Parenthood of Orange & San Bernardino Counties to be held accountable under the law for their 7-year-long aiding, abetting, and profiting in DaVinci’s criminal scheme to sell baby parts for profit.”

This news does not bode well for Planned Parenthood. The 2016 video taken by the CMP clearly shows Dr. Jennifer Russo, Medical Director at Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties confirming that her affiliate was currently working with a local biotech company named DaVinci to supply aborted fetal body parts.

“They take the whole specimen,” Russo explains about Da Vinci in the video. She then asks the representative of CMP who was posing as an undercover buyer, “You’re looking ideally for an intact specimen?” “As intact as possible,” the buyer replies.

As LiveActionNews explains, an “intact specimen” is the entire body of an aborted baby, or as close to an entire body as is possible after an abortion procedure.

“These settlements in Orange County and the closure of these companies light more fire under the trail of the DOJ and its ongoing investigation,” writes Susan Michelle-Hanson for Live Action. “Fetal tissue companies must first acquire the babies’ tissue and organs before selling them, and Planned Parenthood’s role in harvesting the baby body parts cannot be overlooked.”

She adds, “The state of California charged CMP’s David Daleiden and [employee] Sandra Merritt with crimes, the facts of real crimes being committed by the fetal tissue industry CMP was investigating continue to come out.”

It seems likely that these two companies are just the first to fall in this ever-widening investigation.
