Hearings on Baby Parts Scandal Slated for Next Week

Planned parenthood liesA House committee is planning to hold its first hearing next week in the investigation of Planned Parenthood’s sale of aborted baby parts.

LifeNews.com is reporting on the hearing, to be conducted by the House Judiciary Committee, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9 at 10:30 a.m.

“Since the release of numerous videos by the Center for Medical Progress, the House Judiciary Committee has been conducting an in-depth investigation to determine whether the federal law that prohibits partial-birth abortions and the killing of infants born alive were violated, the history of enforcement of those laws, and the sufficiency of those laws,” the committee said in a statement about the upcoming hearing.

“The Committee’s investigation so far has involved letters to the Department of Justice and Planned Parenthood affiliates in order to gather the facts surrounding the horrific allegations brought to light in the Center for Medical Progress’ videos.”

The hearing, entitled “Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining the Horrific Abortion Practices at the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider” will examine details of late-term abortions, what is involved in altering an abortion in order to harvest fetal organs, and a history of the laws surrounding the procurement of human tissue for research and other uses.

“Planned Parenthood and its executives must answer for the alleged atrocities brought to light in the videos by the Center for Medical Progress,” said Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA). “For the past two months, the House Judiciary Committee has been investigating the alleged acts of Planned Parenthood and its affiliates, and now the American people will have a chance to understand just how horrific these practices are to the unborn,” he said.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to question a panel of experts on this issue in order to ascertain how Planned Parenthood may have violated federal laws in the course of its alleged practices, and the atrocities associated with altering abortions in order to obtain the body parts of fetuses. This hearing is the next step in the Committee’s ongoing investigation into Planned Parenthood and part of the Committee’s commitment to fighting for the rights of the unborn.”

The House is also planning to vote on legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in a few weeks.

The first attempt to defund the abortion giant of its $550 million in taxpayer funding failed in the Senate, but a second attempt is expected soon.

In a recent interview, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell admitted that they do not have the votes to pass such a bill in the Senate, nor do they have a president willing to sign it.

“The president has made it very clear he's not going to sign any bill that includes defunding of Planned Parenthood,” McConnell said recently. “So that's another issue that awaits a new president hopefully with a different point of view about Planned Parenthood.”
