As if the suffering of the Haitian people is not enough, quake victims are now being victimized again by “energy healers” from the Church of Scientology who claim they can heal people by the power of touch.
According to a report by Breitbart, 80 “volunteer ministers” clad in yellow t-shirts were flown into Haiti by a wealthy private donor to minister to the people left injured in the wake of the devastating 7.2 earthquake that nearly destroyed the country on Jan. 12. The volunteers claim they use the power of touch to reconnect the nervous system.
“ . . .(W)e use a process called ‘assist’ to follow the nervous system to reconnect the main points, to bring back communication,” said one of the ministers named Sylvie. “When you get a sudden shock to a part of your body the energy gets stuck, so we re-establish communication within the body by touching people through their clothes, and asking people to feel the touch.”
Sylvie allegedly resorted feeling to the leg of a 22 year-old named Oscar Elweels. The young student was trapped in the basement of his school with a pillar on his leg for a day after the quake.
“One hour ago he had no sensation in his left leg, so I explained the method to him, I touched him and after a while he said ‘now I feel everything’,” Sylvie said. “Otherwise they might have had to amputate his other leg. Now his sister knows the method and she can do it.”
Elweels described the procedure as “a sort of harmony between the nerves, a kind of exercise. I couldn’t feel at all, but then I could.”
Sylvie admitted that some doctors don’t like the technique but claimed it was because the ministers wear yellow t-shirts. “It’s a color thing,” she insisted.
However, one American doctor who did not wish to be named scoffed at the idea. “I didn’t know touching could heal gangrene.”
