Will You Pray & Fast for an Abortionist This Lent?

The Pro-Life Action League is once again calling upon pro-lifers to pray for those who are involved in the abortion business, in particular, some of the industry’s most notorious abortionists.

Kermit Gosnell Kermit Gosnell

According the League’s website, the response to last year’s Lenten prayer campaign was overwhelming, with thousands of people agreeing to pray for three women – a pro-choice journalist, abortion clinic escort, and newly trained abortionist.

“These three women needed—and still need—our prayers. But the subjects of this year’s Lenten prayer campaign may need them even more,” the League announced.

This year, the prayer campaign will focus on three abortionists – Brian Finkel, Kermit Gosnell and Naresh Patel.

Finkel is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence for sexually abusing patients at his abortion clinic The three abortionists in question are Brian Finkel, Kermit Gosnell and the recently arrested Naresh Patel. Will you join me and other pro-lifers across the country in praying for these men each day this Lent, and fasting from one meal a week for their conversion?

Brian Finkel Brian Finkel

Brian Finkel was convicted in 2003 of sexually abusing patients at his abortion clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Finkel once referred to his abortuary as a “vagina vault”, calling his vacuum aspiration machine the “super sucker”. Even more outrageous, he called abortion “God’s work”. Convicted in 2003, when his cellmate found out he was appealing his conviction, he wrote to a local newspaper to say the man was “sick”. Finkel continues to deny that he did anything wrong.

“Despite all this, Jesus loves Brian Finkel, and he needs our prayers,” the League writes.

The next abortionist is the notorious Kermit Gosnell whose abortion clinic in West Philadelphia was called a “house of horrors” by state investigators. He’s currently serving a life sentence for murdering three babies who were born alive after an attempted abortion by severing their spinal cords with a scissor. When authorities came to the clinic to investigate possible illegal drug trafficking, they found fetal body parts preserved like trophies in jars of formaldehyde, filthy surgical instruments and blood stained floors. He was indicted for hundreds of crimes from violating the state’s informed consent law to murder.

“Let us pray that as Kermit Gosnell lives out the rest of his life in a Pennsylvania prison, he will come to know Christ’s love and ask His forgiveness.”

Naresh Patel is also in need of prayers. He was arrested at his Oklahoma abortion clinic late last year and indicted for fraud and racketeering. He was caught giving ultrasounds and pregnancy tests to women and telling them they were pregnant when they weren’t, then charging them hundreds of dollars for abortion drugs. He has also been accused of sexually molesting patients, dumping aborted fetuses in a vacant lot and attempting to incinerate them. He is expected to stand trial this year for his crimes.

“It can be difficult to pray for men like Finkel, Gosnell, and Patel,” the League writes. “Their crimes against both God’s laws and man’s are so heinous that it’s hard enough to think about them, much less ask God to bless them and bring them to conversion. But Jesus’s own words require us to do so.”

“I was in prison and you came to me” (Matthew 25:36), and “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

“These men—two of whom are in prison now, with the third likely to join them—are our enemies, and the enemies of all the unborn babies they killed and all the women they exploited. But for that very reason, we must pray for them. If we don’t pray for these men, who will?”

The League is asking people to pray every day and fast for one meal a week for the conversion of these three men. Participants are also being asked to share the 2015 Lent Prayer Challenge on Facebook and Twitter to encourage others to accept this challenge. They are also asking that people share this invitation with their family and friends.

“When we pray—especially when we pray together—Our Lord can work miracles. Let us pray for miracles in the lives of these three men who have done so much to separate themselves from God, but whom He loves all the same.”
