-Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney (8 May 1786 – 4 August 1859)

It is hard to believe that the Miracle of Tepeyac and the sacred Image were practically unknown north of the border between Mexico and the United States for over four centuries. One-hundred and fifty years ago when the United States bishops convened for the Sixth Provincial Council in Baltimore, little was known of Guadalupe in our country. Yet in the sacred Image of Mary of Guadalupe we have the only self-portrait of Mary, our National Patroness.
