Pro-Life Director Leaves After Witnessing Abortion on Ultra-Sound

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist The director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan, Texas resigned after watching an ultra-sound procedure. According to KBTX.com, Abby Johnson, director of the Planned Parenthood-Bryan clinic, was employed by the facility for the past eight years. Last month, she witnessed an ultrasound of an abortion procedure and had a sudden change of heart. “I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," Ms. Johnson said. She handed in her resignation on October 6.   Ms. Johnson said the clinic had been struggling in the tough economy and was changing its business model from one that focused on pregnancy prevention to one that focused on abortion. She was told to bring in more women who wanted abortions, which is something she just couldn’t bring herself to do. "The money wasn't in family planning, the money wasn't in prevention,” she said. “The money was in abortion and so I had a problem with that." Ms. Johnson, who describes herself as a church-going Episcopalian, has joined the Coalition for Life, a pro-life group with an office down the street from her former employer. She now  joins pro-life witnesses who pray outside the facility she once directed. But she has no regrets. "I feel so pure in heart (since leaving). I don't have this guilt, I don't have this burden on me anymore that's how I know this conversion was a spiritual conversion." Last Friday, Ms. Johnson and the Coalition For Life were issued temporary restraining orders filed by Planned Parenthood. Rochelle Tafolla, a Planned Parenthood spokesperson said in a statement: "We regret being forced to turn to the courts to protect the safety and confidentiality of our clients and staff, however, in this instance it is absolutely necessary." The temporary restraining order contends that Planned Parenthood would be irreparably harmed by the disclosure of certain information, but does not bar Johnson or Coalition For Life volunteers from the premises. A hearing about the order is scheduled for November 10. © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace®  http://www.womenofgrace.com
