Planned Parenthood's New Anti-Woman Christmas Carol

Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS

The staff of a Planned Parenthood affiliate in Arizona has recorded a new version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" carol by changing the lyrics to celebrate the giving of "gifts" such as Plan B, diaphrams, depo provera shots and Nuva Rings.

"We hope you will enjoy this original song written by staff and performed by volunteers," say the makers of the song. "And, if you want to know more about the different types of birth control mentioned in the song, visit www.ppaz.org."

As they rattle through the 12 days of Christmas, they celebrate everything from dental dams to diaphrams but, as usual, they don't include any of the information women really need to know about these "gifts".

Such as how of depo provera shots may leave them with irreversible bone density loss.

Nor will they dare to sing about all the lawsuits currently pending against the manufacturer of Nuva Ring by women who suffered sometimes deadly blood clots.

They also carol about "peel away patches" such as the Ortho Evra Patch which has already killed dozens of women and injured hundreds more.

This remake of a beloved Christmas carol can only be entertaining to women who still believe that those who profess to care about their "reproductive health" actually do so. The rest of us know that the only people celebrating this twisted version of the 12 days of Christmas are those who are cashing in on it.
