To fulfill your spiritual
mission, Jesus must be the center of your life. This can happen through prayer.
We are praying for the grace of
a holy and intimate prayer time.

The Vigilant Soul
We must pray without ceasing, in every occurrence and employment of our lives – that prayer which is rather a habit of lifting up the heart to God as in a constant communion with Him.
St. Elizabeth Seton
Dear Lord,
Prayer must be the melody of my heart which imbues every moment of the day. And yet, so many events and situations cry for my attention. In those moments when much crowds around me, let my soul always be united to You even if my mind may be dealing with what is at hand. Provide a space within me, Jesus, where You and You alone reside. Throughout the day, take me to this interior sanctuary to speak to You, to learn from You, to be with You. In these ways, my prayer can be a stream of life flowing within me and from me to the world. Amen.
Scripture Passage for Meditation:
Rejoice always, pray constantly … May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”
(1 Thessalonians 5: 17; 23). RSV
Daily Reflection:
· Prayer is a discipline. It requires faithful attention to discover its riches. How can I discipline myself to turn my thoughts and attention to God during the course of the day? What are some practical strategies?
· To pray constantly sounds impossible. But God does not call me to a task for which He hasn’t given me the grace. Daily prayer opens the windows of my soul to behold Him in everything. St. Stanislaus Kostka said, “I find a heaven in the midst of saucepans and brooms.” How can I train my spiritual vision to see His hand in all things – even in the midst of daily chores and pressing concerns in the workplace? How, then, can I surrender each activity to Him?
· When a soul is in the state of grace (only mortal sin removes sanctifying grace from a soul), God inhabits it. How can this truth help me in my desire to “pray constantly?”
