To fulfill your spiritual mission, Jesus must be the center of your life. This can happen through prayer.

We are praying for the grace of a holy and intimate prayer time.

Reflection Twelve
Reflections taken from Grace-Filled Moments

The Words of My Heart

Even though [Sacred Scriptures] have been fixed in their phrasing for thousands of years, He Who makes us hear them today already had us in mind when He inspired them of old, and he is always present to address Himself to us through them, as if they were at this instant pronounced for the first time.
Louis Bouyer

Dear Lord,
What a great gift You have given me through Sacred Scripture! Your words touch my heart. They heal me and give me guidance. They bless me and give me wisdom. They encourage me and give me hope. They assure me and give me confidence. They teach me and nurture me to life. Through Your Word, You are present to me. You speak to me. You transform me. May my thirst for You never cease. May my desire for You ever increase. May Your Word pierce my soul, consume my heart, and form my days. Amen.

Scripture Passage for Meditation:
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path (Psalm 119:105). RSV

Daily Reflection:
·

· The Vatican II Document, Divine Revelation, says that in Sacred Scripture, God comes lovingly to meet His children and talk to them. Have I had this experience? Recall it.

· Why should prayerful reading of Scripture be part of my prayer time?

· Do I know how to pray the Scriptures? Following is a series of questions to make a time of Scripture-praying fruitful. Am I willing to try this method (called Lectio-Divina) for one week to see its effects? If not, why do I resist?
Ask:
1. What does this passage mean?
2. What is happening in it?
3. What is God saying? To whom is He saying it?
4. Given my current circumstance or situation, what is God saying to me personally? What grace is He offering me through these words?
5. What sentiments or emotions does this passage draw from me? What causes me to feel as I do? How do I wish to respond to the generosity of God’s grace?
Go back and use this method for the Scripture passage and the quotation for this meditation. Journal your insights. For the rest of the Meditations in Grace-Filled Moments, use this method of Lectio-Divina as you pray the quotations and the Scripture passages.

· Think about Louis Bouyer’s statement that God “already had us in mind” at the moment He first inspired the Scriptures. What is my reaction? What thoughts, inspirations, emotions well up within me?
