WGR10365 - Narcissism: It's Roots and Fruits

3/12/2012

(Program 10365) Guests: Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons, Dale O'Leary, Father Edmund Sylvia

A quiz for you today. What epidemic destroys relationships, undermines ethics, breeds dishonesty, wrecks careers,  effects 1 in 16 people, often begins in childhood, and seems to be culturally ensconced as a virtue in today? The answer: narcissism, defined as an inordinate fascination with oneself. We all know the Greek story of Narcissus, the lad so infatuated with his own image that he pined away for love of his mirrored reflection. And while this is but a mythological tale, it defines a growing epidemic in our culture today - men and women who hold a grandiose concept of themselves. Today we will take a look at narcissism, its roots and its fruits.
