WGR10320 - "On My Honor" I Had to Leave Scouting

2/20/2012

(Program 10320)
Program Guests: Christy Volanski, Sydney Volanski

Many of us may remember our scouting days with memories of merit badges for good citizenship, coming to the aid and assistance of others, exploring the wonders of nature, and learning domestic skills such as sewing and cooking.  Many of these opportunities still remain, and many others, more reflective of contemporary times, have been added.  However, the ideologies they now promote, the curricula that undergirds them, and the requirements necessary to acquire them have changed dramatically. They now reflect the worldview of the national and international Girls Scouts Association whose vision and mission for young woman has moved decidedly left. Here to share their stories with us today are Sydney Volanski and Madelyn Foccaraci.
