This is an exciting year for members of the Dominican Religious Order. Founded by St. Dominic Guzman, a Spaniard, the congregation known as the Order of Preachers, was officially sanctioned by Pope Honorius the Third on that date in the year 1216.

To celebrate, and as a means of a personal “thank you,” we are dedicating this Women of Grace series to getting to know the Dominicans a little bit better. Today, we’re going to find out all about St. Dominic, the charism of the Order, and the early years of its founding. Throughout the series, we’re also going to become acquainted with many of the other saints and blessed, and discover how it is that all of us can aspire to do as they have done – and that is, to be hounds for heaven!
