Fr. Wade L. J. Menezes, CPM of the Fathers of Mercy joins Johnnette on today’s Women of Grace. Together they share thoughts on coming up with a solid blueprint for Lent. Our first caller of the day, Maria, asks a question base on this. Maria wants to know how she can strengthen her faith during Lent? Fr. Wade gives several examples including focusing on the works of mercy. We should also focus on self by deactivating anger, our tongue , jealousy and more.

Father suggested writing down what you do during day and examine it. Caller Annette took that a bit further by asking if she should say the “Act of Contrition” several times a day. Father Wade explains that twice a day is enough. Once at midday to see where we are spiritually as we reset our goals and then at end of day to be forgiven for the days sins. Mary called and asked if she needed to ask a bishop for forgiveness since she had an abortion (that she has confessed before to a priest.) Fr. Wade shares with Mary a little known fact about excommunication and how Pope Frances changed the rules for the Year of Mercy.
