Messages sent via Twitter in the aftermath of a shooting that took place at a Mohammed cartoon event in Garland, Texas indicate a possible connection to the Islamic terrorist group, ISIS, along with the threat “we will come to your streets with death and slaughter!"

Fox News is reporting on the shooting that occurred last night outside the Curtis Culwell Center in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas where the "Mohammed Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest" was taking place. Sponsored by the American Freedom Defense Initiative which is headed by blogger Pamela Geller, the event was in response to the Charlie Hebdo attacks which saw several cartoonists slaughtered by Muslim radicals for drawing lewd cartoons of Mohammed. The Texas contest drew more than 350 entries with the top prize earning $10,000.

The event was still in progress when police say two men drove up to the front of the building, got out of their car and began shooting. An unarmed security guard was shot in the leg while police, who were helping with security at the event, opened fire and killed both gunmen.

"The first suspect was shot immediately," Garland Mayor Douglas Athas told CNN. "The second suspect was wounded and reached for his backpack. He was shot again."

Thus far, only one of the gunmen's identities has been released. Elton Simpson of Phoenix, Arizona, a convert to Islam, was well known to the FBI and was convicted of lying to federal agents in 2010 about plans to travel to Somalia where authorities suspected he was planning to join a terrorist group.

"We have no other indication that anyone else was involved," Athas said.

However, police have since learned that a Twitter account titled "AbuHussainAlBritani" posted several messages referencing the shooting in Texas and appearing to link it to the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

"The knives have been sharpened, soon we will come to your streets with death and slaughter!" the first message from the account read.

A second message said "Allahu Akbar!!!!! 2 of our brothers just opened fire at the Prophet Muhammad art exhibition in texas!"

“Kill Those That Insult The Prophet,” a third message said.

A final message from the account read, "They Thought They Was Safe In Texas From The Soldiers of The Islamic State."

Both accounts have been suspended by Twitter.

Police are still investigating the homes of the deceased gunmen to determine a possible motive for the shooting.
