Five Ways Christians Can Combat LGBT Tyranny

religious freedomThe continuing controversy about religious liberty in America has Christians feeling defeated and downtrodden these days, but a hard-hitting article by a Catholic scholar offers five concrete steps the faithful can take today that will ensure an end to the tyranny being imposed upon us by a small minority of gay activists and the weak-kneed politicians and judges who are letting them get away with it.

Stephen M. Krason, Ph,D, Professor of Political Science and Legal Studies at Franciscan University of Steubenville and writing for Crisis Magazine, says the recent controversy about the Indiana religious liberty statute is a textbook example of how timid Republican politicians are unable to get past the “politics of the moment” to see the grave civilizational questions that are confronting this country as a result of the tyranny of homosexual extremists.

If we're going to fight back effectively, we need to understand exactly what some of these "grave civilizational questions" are.

For instance, consider how Indiana’s Governor Mike Pence caved to pressure from homosexual activists and threats from businesses. Instead of protecting innocent people from having their livelihoods stolen by tyrannical homosexuals, which was the intent of the bill he signed into law, his "clarification” of the law actually opened the door wider for these attacks. This is in spite of the fact that the original bill did nothing more than affirm the protections in the existing Religious Freedom  Restoration Act which insure that a person’s religious liberty cannot be infringed upon by the state without a compelling public interest.

“In truth, it’s preposterous to claim that facilitating sodomy is a compelling public interest that overpowers the right to religious liberty,” Krason writes.

But this is what is happening, and by protecting homosexuals, for all practical purposes, the law is now protecting a behavior, Krason writes.

"There is no proof that homosexuality is an innate, inborn state or ‘orientation.’ In fact, the evidence is increasingly suggesting that same-sex attraction for many is a transitory phenomenon at a certain point in their lives—in some cases prompted by sexual experimentation.”

Of course, the homosexual movement seeks to suppress this evidence with a vengeance. Why? Because it undercuts their ideology and agenda.

Protecting behavior is nothing more than a convolution of the notion of civil rights and anti-discrimination laws which are also use as cudgels to batter Christians. Civil rights laws are supposed to secure human dignity for groups who have been denied it.

"It is hard to make that case to protect a behavior that—in light of the abundant physical, psychological, moral, and spiritual consequences—so undercuts human dignity," Krason writes. "To legally mandate that Christians and other believers serve such people in a way that furthers and legitimizes such behavior is the same as telling them that they must help someone to engage in lying or cheating behavior. If there is a civil right to have people accept and even assist in one kind of immoral behavior, why not any other?"

As we all know, in the battle over marriage, the mindset of the LGBT movement has become shockingly totalitarian. They present themselves as victims while mercilessly victimizing innocent bakers, florists, and photographers who refuse to enable their behavior like so many politicians do by caving to their pressure.

So what should Christians and other believers do in the face of this repression?

“They must go on the offensive—charitably but vigorously—and fight the battle on several levels,” Krason writes.

“First, they must persistently speak up about the realities of homosexual behavior, the coming consequences for our culture, and especially the totalitarian mindset and repressiveness of the homosexualist movement.

“Next, they must constantly let cowering public officials know how they oppose their buckling to pressure and will remember it at the next election.

“Third, continued and intensified legal resistance is necessary. The organizations providing legal defense are crucial, but others must be formed to take an offensive posture. The lame discrimination complaints by homosexualist organizations against believers in human rights commissions and the pressuring of corporations to dump executives and employees who dissent at all from the homosexualist agenda should be met consistently with lawsuits for abuse of process and defamation. That would put financial pressure on the well-heeled homosexualist organizations.

“Fourth, they should organize well-targeted boycotts of companies that buckle under to the homosexualists and well-publicized showings of support for those who won’t.”

Chick-Fil-A was a good example of how religiously oriented citizens can change the mind of weak-kneed corporate leaders after they become aware of the economic impact of losing the business of so many religiously oriented citizens in exchange for a handful of well-heeled gay activists.

“Fifth, it’s time for frequent, perfectly legal public rallies against the totalitarian schemes of the homosexualist movement and the state bureaucrats who run interference for them. There’s a need to take to the streets to clamor against tyranny and for religious liberty.”

The religious liberty rallies of June 2012 which occurred in the wake of the controversial birth control mandate need to happen regularly in state capitals and major cities across the country.

“The rank-and-file now must show courage and boldness that contrasts with current leaders, always keeping Burke’s famous dictum in mind: ‘The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing’.”
