The bitter fruits of the BDSM “romance” known as Fifty Shades of Grey are already being harvested among movie goers as a promising 19 year-old college student is arrested for allegedly raping a fellow student while imitating what he saw in the movie.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Mohammad Hossain is being held on $500,000 bail after brutally raping a woman in his dorm room while recreating scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey. An engineering student at the University of Illinois in Chicago, he allegedly tied the woman up and began whipping and punching her. When she managed to get her arms free, he held them behind her back and continued to assault her even though she was crying and begging him to stop.

Hossain’s roommate came home during the assault but Hossain held the door shut to prevent him from entering. The woman left shortly thereafter and immediately called the police. Hossain was arrested later that night and told police that he and the woman were re-enacting scenes from the movie.

Judge Adam Bourgeois, Jr. was shocked to learn that such a respected student like Hossain, who served as an ambassador to the alumni association as well as being on the triathlon team, could “let a movie persuade him to do something like this?”

Hossain’s lawyer, Sandra Bennewitz insists her client believed it was consensual.

Hossain was described as looking shocked by the staggering bail as he was being led to the lockup.

This young student is finding out the hard way that Hollywood and reality are two entirely different things. The only place where women like to be tied up and beaten is in the movies - and when they say no, they mean it.
